The Semester in Nicaragua is a program of Trinity Christian College that provides an incredible living abroad experience and includes the opportunity to study a variety of subjects including media, development, Spanish, history, politics, missions, and culture. The program includes travel around the region, with activities such as surfing, rain forest hiking, visiting Mayan ruins, zip-lining, and volcano climbing. There is also a long weekend trip to Costa Rica.

The program is designed specifically for non-Spanish speaking students of media. This includes communication majors and minors as well as business communications students. The core of the semester program is an internship opportunity with a local mission, non-profit, or non-governmental organization. Many of these are programs of our partner, the Nehemiah Center—a trans-denominational ministry and community development effort of Nicaraguan leaders and North American missionaries. Internships give the opportunity to live with a community and create a substantial final project that will be used by the organization. This project is developed around your interests and is often a media project such as a documentary film, photo-journalism essay, webpage, or a public relations campaign.
