Is this program for me?

The program is designed for students interested in media, but offers a lot of opportunity for others as well. Interest in media can take many forms, whether your a Communications Major or Minor or a Business Communications student. Much of the program focuses on your internship, which is flexible and you help decide what its focus will be. The most common types of internship focus on living with a community and working with an organization doing development work there. You internship project is to use media to help share to stories of the people living in the community, and assist the work the development group is doing. Often this project is a documentary film, but can also be a series of short films or even commercials. It all depends on their needs, and your interests. But filmmaking is not the only options. You project could be a large photography essay, a radio story, or even a webpage. Those interested in Business Communications can develop public relations or ad campaigns, or can focus on copy writing for webpages, brochures, and newsletters.

I want to come, but I'm not studying Communications. What can I do?

Tailor-made course work and internships are available in these subjects: Art, English, Church Ministry, Leadership, Missions, History, Political Science, English, Social Work, Education and Spanish. You'll need a professor from your home college willing to work with you on an independent study basis. Some options are not available every semester because of staff availability in Nicaragua.
